Online Medical Training School Helps Certify Students to Meet Booming Medical Coding & Billing Demand

Booming Medical Coding & Billing Demand Prompts Metro Detroit School to Launch Educational Initiatives

In today's medical job market, there is an increasing demand for both medical coding and medical billing professionals. Although neither title requires a degree, both require certification to be recognized. A certification in either can lead to increased job opportunities and higher salaries for industry professionals. To help meet future demand and match our students with their perfect job, our Phlebotomy Online Training Center is now offering a one-stop certification class for both coding and

With our nation’s aging population and growing dependence on digital filing systems, there will be an increased need for medical billing and medical coding professionals. The advent of electronic medical records, ICD 10 protocol and HIPAA laws has led to the complete restructuring of billing and record keeping so this field needs highly-trained individuals.

Phlebotomy Career Training is announcing our new certification course in medical coding and billing in response to the predicted boom in both professions over the coming years.

While many hospitals are still learning their EMR systems, the graduates of PCT's program are ready to jump in and take charge.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS), the field of medical records and health information technicians (which includes medical billers and coders) is expected to increase 15 percent by 2024. The BLS predicts this industry will grow faster on average than all other occupations, with an expected increase of about 29,000 employees by 2024.

Certification in either field is important not only for obtaining a job, but for maintaining one as well. The 2015 American Academy of Professional Coders’ (AAPC) Salary Survey tells us that credentialed professionals:

  • Stay ahead of average inflation and unemployment rates in the U.S.

  • Focus their education on moving up rather than job-hopping.

  • Saw an unemployment rate decrease of .5% while the industry as a whole saw a slight increase since 2014.

  • See an increase in salary with added credentials.

Doing our part to meet this anticipated industry demand; Phlebotomy Career Training is now offering our Adult Medical Billing and Coding with Electronic Health Records Program. This course is a 300-clock-hour training program for those who are seeking employment in the health information management field.

Students will gain an understanding of:

  • The important link between the provisions of healthcare and reimbursement for services.

  • The multi-step billing process and medical coding procedures, which are the foundation of the program.

  • Healthcare law and ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the various software programs commonly used in the medical field.

  • Proper preparation for employment in hospitals, physician's offices, billing facilities and other related businesses.

For $600, students who successfully complete the program will be qualified to take three certification exams offered by the National Center for Competency Testing and the American Medical Certification Association:

  • Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant

  • Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist
